Day 11 50.5 miles and 5477 feet of elevation!
If you ride then you know today was BITCH! We headed out early as usual to get the majority of the climbing done before the sun was at full force! The ride was beautiful on the 20, with green/blue rivers, lakes, and waterfalls! The only downfall was the massive amount of RV's, cars, and LOUD groups of motorcycles. Anticipating a full day of climbing, we were surprised to have some long downhill stretches along the way....it was a nice brake, but just meant we would have to climb all we had lost... Again! We stopped for lunch at 20 miles, to take a brake with 2000 feet conquered. The rest of the ride was all up hill! There were a couple spots that warranted walking :) once we hit the top it was all down hill, a 7% grade to be exact! A bit freaky going down hill at 30 mph next to a steep cliff! Be we all made it alive to the campground.
The scenery looks absolutely beautiful and it looks like you are having a great time! I'll retire to Sidney with you Sally! It looks adorable! Keep up the blogs and pictures! Stay safe! ~Gina
